Inside the Pantheon

Of all the buildings in Rome, I think my favorite is the Pantheon.  It’s not the most ornate, largest, or most colorful of all the structures here, but I love it.  It’s solid and I love the columns and maybe the combination of bold strength and more subtle intricacies.  It’s simply standing in the cobblestone piazza without any extras.  There’s a simplicity and balance to it I’m really drawn to.  I also probably like it because it’s so close to us (about 500 feet from our apartment), so I’ve been able to see it at all different times of day. Wednesday we went inside.

I love the blue and yellow in this next one.

  1. I agree. The simplicity combined with grandeur makes a profound statement, plus there are places that become “yours” when you get to spend more time there.
