Barcelona by day

This morning’s breakfast was yogurt and granola on the balcony. I’d never had “Macedonia” flavored yogurt before. It was tasty!

Then we headed by bus to Parc Güell to see the mosaic tile work and interesting structures by Gaudi and the amazing views of the city and the Mediterranean.

After that we split up to go to Mercat Del Encants, described as “the largest and most bizarre flea market in Barcelona.” Jason and Spencer took the metro and Jacob and I walked the 2.5 miles so we could see some more of the city.  We walked down cute little streets like this one

and saw buildings like this along the larger streets.
When we met up at the market, we found out it was closed, but we got to see this.

We’ll go back to the market when we go to Sagrada Familia nearby in a couple days.

As it is, we ended up with a little bonus time to  have gelato then relax and enjoy the balcony again at the end of the day.

It’s wonderful to have such long hours of daylight! Almost 9pm and it’s like midday.

  1. It’s fun to see places we recognize. And there are so many interesting places to eat tucked away in those little streets. Enjoy!

  2. Parc Guell seems like it should be in the illustrations of a Dr. Seuss story. So colorful and fanciful. It’s a treat to relive our time there through your pictures. Afternoon gelato. Sigh…
