Our day in Paris was a little different than expected, but as Spencer said before we left, the most memorable of our adventures are often not the ones we planned ahead. This day was a good example of that.
The title of this post references Monsieur and Madame Thénardier from Les Mis… the thieves.
These were ours.
Those three plus two boys surrounded Jason, pushing clipboards at him and begging him to sign “for the babies.” As he told them no and started yelling at them and pushing them away, they kept after him. I tried getting them away from him by yelling and waving my arms at them too, but they were relentless. The end result was they got into his money belt and Jason ended up chasing after them on foot. The three girls were caught, but the boys got away. There’s a much longer story, but the ending is nothing was stolen and this very smiley museum official below was delighted to spend the time with Jason while waiting for the police.

Moral of the story- watch out for little people in herds. I already knew that from my time with kindergarteners though! 😄
Anyway, we still had a lovely day, have a good story to tell, saw all this-
before we left on the train to Barcelona.

Yes, you certainly have a story to tell! What a “learning experience”–as teachers are wont to say.

Wow! What a confrontation! I’m sure you learned a lot but I’m sorry you lost the time even if you didn’t lose money. Don’t mess with de Vries!

All kinds of memories. I’m glad all ended well. The buildings, sculpture, art are “relentless” as well. So much to see!
