No one in Cinque Terre needs a stairmaster

There are narrow steep stairs everywhere in Vernazza. Every. Where.  Except the spots where there are narrow sloped paths… to get to the stairs.

Our first morning here we got cappuccinos and croissants then hiked the trail to Monterosso.

The views along the way were pretty, looking back at Vernazza from above

and also forward to Monterosso.

The trail was crazy skinny in parts, making it so people had to hug the edge while those from the other direction squeezed by. It was really pretty (although cozy!). Here are a couple pictures of some of the wide parts of the trail.

Altogether my watch said we climbed a total of 83 flights of stairs on our hike, so we definitely earned our daily gelato!

We spent the afternoon and evening playing in the water at the beach in Monterosso and back in Vernazza. After having dinner on the top of the point “with some friends” (longer story for later), we went back to the bay for some sunset frisbee-ing

and a final evening view of the city’s warm colors.

  1. Guess the “old folks” live in the boats? Don’t see how I could possibly climb those stairs. Lol. What a beautiful Place! Nice form Jacob.
